Sarah Bolluyt

I have two loves in life:  coffee and music.  At the moment, I am also having an affair with writing and visual art.  I am a composer, and an organist; I am taking a break from music school at the moment, but I still love to perform and write.  I write music, and I write prose and poetry.  I occasionally write fiction.  I love to write essays.  I am working on an opera libretto at the moment.  The opera is mostly about hell.

I love leather boots.  I drink my coffee black.  I sleep a little, work a lot.  I generally write for more hours than I sleep.  I pick up pennies when I see them on the sidewalk, because “do unto others,” and I would not very much like to have my face stepped on, thank you.  (Things that go around, come around… The world is just like a merry-go-round, except nightmarish in that everyone’s a tourist.)  I like to sit in loud places and study.  I am never bored; I love to daydream for hours on long bus or car rides.  I argue with books; in my books on philosophy in particular, my notes and arguments fill the pages’ margins.

In the following blog, I will write about a number of topics which interest me.  I believe firmly that, as G. K. Chesterton said,

“There is no such thing on earth as an uninteresting subject; the only thing that can exist is an uninterested person."

So this blog will encompass just about everything that I think about.  I read a lot, and I think a lot.  I love libraries, and I will read just about anything once.  I make a point of not being an uninterested person.  I have found that uninterested people are generally the ones who are also uninteresting, so I take curiosity very seriously.
